In bobbin lace, there are 2 actions

- Crossing: the second bobbin is placed over the third.
- Twisting : the second and fourth bobbins are simultaneously placed over the first and third bobbins.

And 3 basic stiches, here are 3 basic stitches used to create all types of lace.

They all involve the actions of crossing and twisting.
- Half stich: crossing – twisting
- Linen stich: crossing – twisting – crossing
- Twisted stich: crossing – twisting – crossing – twisting
